What Type of Headphones are Right for You?
While there are some great speakers out there that will bring the music out into the open and fill your home with the music you love, there is nothing like a great pair of headphones. Headphones have a way of filling your entire being with your favorite music, in a way that even the most expensive home speakers cannot. Most people that are in love with music love headphones because the experience of listening to music through them is all encompassing and can take away all of your troubles in an instant.
Because there are so many people that like listening to music through headphones, there are several different types of them. There are three basic kinds of headphones, all of which are ideal for a stroll through the park, gaming, or listening to your favorite music while you work or study. The type of headphone you choose is up to you, it’s all about personal preference. Some people find that they like more than one type of headphone, because some types work better for some activities and uses than others. Which is right for you?
Ear Buds
Ear buds are the smallest type of headphones on the market today. These headphones have no cuffs or bands that go over or around the head; they simply fit right into the ear. Ear buds are an awesome type of headphone if you are trying to do away with all outside noise. Ear buds are made from a variety of materials, pliable and hard plastics, and some may have small foam cushions. Many consumers have to try several brands of ear buds before they find the ear buds that fit them perfectly. All ear buds will take some getting used to, but if you want all of the music for your ear, these are the headphones to you.
There is a relatively new type of headphone on the market that is similar to ear buds, known as ear clips. These also do not have a band or strap across or behind the head. Instead, ear clips clip right onto the ear and have cushioned speakers that bring the sound of your favorite music to you. This is a great type of headphone, but typically does not do away with all outside noise the way a typical ear bud does.
Enclosed Headphones
Enclosed headphones are the type that totally encloses the ear with a padded cuff. These are the biggest type of headphones on the market and they have the band that goes over the head to hold the headphones in place. These headphones are great at doing away with most outside noise, but are not best for those that want to do some type of activity while listening to music. Most find that enclosed headphones are ideal for home use when activity will be limited.
Open Air Headphones
Open-air headphones are the most common type of headphone used today. The reason for this is that this is the type that comes with most personal audio equipment such as MP3 players and such. Open-air headphones have ear cuffs, but they fit more loosely around the ear than the cuffs of enclosed headphones. Open-air headphones are preferred by many because they are lightweight, comfortable, and allow you to interact with your surroundings while listening to music at the same time. Open air headphones usually have cushions on them and can come with a headband that goes over the head or behind the head to hold them in place.
These are the most common types of headphones, though there are cordless headphones and some headphones that are water resistant for those that are involved in sports and athletics. The type of headphone you choose is up to you, and you may find that when you go walking or running ear buds are ideal while you are shopping you may like the open-air variety. The best thing to do is try them all, and incorporate them into your life in the best way for you.
